Harry Potter

I'm about to leave to see the new Harry Potter movie with some friends. Twitter's awash with comments (it's the first trending topic), and I'm sure I'll be contributing to that later on in the evening. 7:00 showing, dinner first. It'd better be good.

Food

I am listening now to the most recent NPR Science Friday podcast about the pseudo-addictive substance that is food. They talk about how fat, sugar, and salt trigger your brain not only to give you pleasure now, but also to come back for more (just like nicotine). As they were outlining how the addiction takes hold (you lose control of when you eat, you are satisfied less and less, and you want more), I was busy eating an entire box of Annie's Mac & Cheese (good for 2 or 3 servings). Hm.

Oh, Canada!

Sorry for the gap in updates—I've been on a bike trip through Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Since it's pretty much the middle of nowhere, I haven't had cell service or much wifi for a while. We've been biking a lot, though…see our hardest ride here (including an elevation profile—a must see!). Our overall route so far is embedded below:
